They predominantly live in the southern hemisphere. These birds spend half their lives in water and the other half on land. They feed on fish, squids and other aquatic forms of life. They swim in order to catch their prey. Their bodies are well adapted for this purpose. The biggest penguin is about 3 ft 7 inches tall and with the smallest species one will be only 16 inches tall.

Penguins are very good swimmers. When they swim in water it appears as if they are flying in the air. They keep afloat with the layer of air trapped inside their feathers. That also serves as the insulation when the birds are in cold water of the Antarctic. They are well adapted to protect themselves from predators with their black wings and the backs as well as their white bellies.

When penguins dive into water in search of prey, the smaller ones stay near the surface. They spend only around 2 minutes under water. However, a large one could dive as deep as 565 meters and they are able to spend 22 minutes under water at a stretch. These birds have good hearing which they use for locating their chicks. When it comes to eye sight, they are able to see well in water. With their good eye sight they find prey and avoid predators.

In order to maintain body temperature penguins are able to control their blood flow. Also, they huddle together to keep warm some times. They are so well organized that each member of the pack gets a chance to be in the center of the pack for some time. When it is very cold, it is the females that go looking for food while males stay away from water.

Penguins are monogamous birds. During the mating season they make pairs. Most species lay two eggs and the male and the female take turns in incubating the eggs. While one is incubating the eggs the other will go in search of food. The only exception is the Emperor penguin in which case the male does the incubation alone.

Penguins are not scared of humans but they normally will not come closer than 3 meters. It could be because they never need to worry about land predators. They are more vulnerable when they are in water as predators such as tiger seals often attack them.

Penguin is a flightless bird that is well adapted to live in the cold Antarctic regions. They live in flocks and feed on fish. Also, they are highly social birds.

You have several options when it comes to learning the violin.

The first option is enrolling in a music school, so you can get specific lessons on the just the violin. You don’t have to be a student majoring in music to learn the violin from a music academy or a university. In fact, many universities offer music classes to anyone who wishes to learn how to play stringed instruments, percussion instruments, etc.

Of course, these lessons won’t be exactly cheap, because you will be attending classes in a room with other aspiring violinists. If you don’t want to drive to your regular music classes, your second option is to find a violin instructor. A good violin instructor has seven key characteristics or traits:

1. A good instructor is able to show that he really loves what he is doing. He should also be able to demonstrate the breadth of his knowledge, as well as his passion for teaching people.

2. A good instructor is also competent in the subject matter. Instructors who have degrees in music, or have formally trained under known violin virtuous, are definitely more reliable than violinists who are self-taught, or have had no formal training. Of course, being taught by a professional musician is a completely different proposition altogether.

3. A good instructor should always be gentle and pleasant with his student. After all, you are his client, and no matter how harried or frustrated the teacher may be, he should still handle his clients well.

4. A truly competent instructor should also be able to imagine what it is like for the student. If an instructor is unable to put himself in your shoes during the lesson, the learning process will be laborious and difficult, I can guarantee that.

5. An instructor should also show that he values not just the money you give him as payment for his professional services, but also your time. All personal instructors should arrive on time, unless they have a really good reason not to. Coming in late is never okay, so if you happen to have an instructor who is always half an hour late, you should tell him to come earlier on your next lesson.

6. Another key trait of a truly effective violin teacher is creativity. Not every student can learn to read music after two sessions. Not every student can master the movements needed to create beautiful sounds. The instructor should be able to improvise exercises and lessons that will address the steep learning curve experienced by many students.

7. And, finally, a good teacher always encourages his student to reach out to other students and lovers of music. Enrichment through experience is one of the best ways to encourage a budding passion for the violin.

If you do not have the time or the funds for a personal violin teacher, your last option is to sign up for online violin classes. You can learn a lot from competent teachers online, and the best things about these classes is that you won’t have to attend live classes, and you can view the videos and read the instructions from the teacher at your own pace.

Finding the best place to learn violin can spell the difference between sheer enjoyment at the prospect of learning new music skills, and experiencing difficulty in playing a new instrument.

If you have been thinking of learning the violin so that you can relax at home with one of the most beautiful stringed instruments in the w...

Top Ten Beatles Songs

Transforming the very way songs are written recorded and released, most, if not all popular music owes them a nod, and some a heavy debt. Before The Beatles songs were written in offices by professional songwriters and microphones at professional studios were placed with scientific accuracy at measured distances to the instruments and amplifiers.

The Beatles broke ground in music video making, film making, and even starting their own record label and signing independent artists and has a retail shop selling clothing. You name a groundbreaking advance in pop music and they probably did a version of it at some point, including “sampling’ sounds and found music to put into songs. You may be tired of hearing some of their songs, but they were both of and ahead of their time.

1- She Loves You – Single
The first time I heard The Beatles, it was probably this song. The palatable joy of these four mates making a racket and on their way up to the “topper-most of the popper-most” is infectious and still rocks and pops with youthful energy.

2- Run For Your Life- Rubber Soul
Here’s the sharp tongued John threatening a girl with “death’ (or at least saying “I’d rather see you dead… “) if she stays with another man. Not very PC in these times.

3- Tomorrow Never Knows – Revolver
This track is another John Lennon ‘out of nowhere’ original. Where he got the musical inspiration for this epic trance-like and rocking track, I don’t know. He did tell engineer Geoff Emerick and producer George Martin that he wanted his vocals to sound like the Dali Lama singing from a mountain top. It sounds like that.

4- While My Guitar Gently Weeps – The White Album
George Harrison’s songwriting was apparently never fully acknowledged by the elder Lennon and McCartney duo, but here is a timeless classic with amazing guitar by Eric Clapton, whom I’ve never been to fond of but here he burns. Maybe it has something to do with him shagging George’s wife.

5- Twist and Shout – Please, Please Me
Ok, I know The Beatles didn’t write this song, (Phil Medly and Beryt Russel composed it) but it is the quintessential John Lennon rocker vocal. This was the last song recorded for their UK debut album Please, Please Me and producer George Martin left it until last because he thought that John would blow out his voice and he was right and the results are beautiful.

6- Julie – The White Album
John’s achingly beautiful song to his deceased mother, Julie. I have always been fascinated with the unique chord changes and haunting melody that this song evokes. This is John Lennon at his most venerable and tender. The double tracked guitar and vocal foreshadow Elliot Smith’s whole recording style.

7- Day Tripper – Yesterday and Today
One of the ultimate guitar riffs ever put to tape. Someone, somewhere is playing it right now. This is a Lennon-McCartney collaboration, with John coming up with the guitar riff and choruses and Paul working on the verses.

8- Michelle – Rubber Soul
This song features a melodic bass solo played by Paul. The story goes that Paul wrote the song as a joke to entertain friends at parties grumbling fake French words while singing. John encouraged him to turn it into a proper song and voil, a classic song is born.

9- A Day In The Life – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
This song has to be on the list for many reasons. First, it is a true Lennon McCartney collaboration as the first third is written and sung by John, Paul sings and wrote the second third and then it returns to John as we approach the epic cacophonous symphonic outro. The song is unique in its arrangement, tempo changes, middle break and atonal orchestra build up, culminating in a final note that decays for a full 42 seconds.

10- Hey Jude – Let It Be
Does this song have the ultimate sing along outro? Maybe, but here’s Paul seemingly effortlessly tossing of a timeless classic with the ease of only someone totally comfortable with their own musical genius. Hat’s off to you, Sir McCartney.

The Beatles are arguably, wait, no argument, I think they are, the most important group in pop music history to date. Transforming the ver...

There is no doubt about it. Without a high school diploma, a person will struggle to find gainful employment. Overall quality of life is usually low for those who have not finished schooling. If you have a child, you want the best for him or her. Choosing the right institution is an important part of guiding your child’s future. Private schools are one of the best choices if you want your child to be well rounded, bright, and successful.

It is easy to choose a public school education for your child. Aside from the fact that there is no tuition, these are often nearby and there are so many to choose from. But this does not mean that these institutions are the best for children to attend. Private schools not only provide top-notch instruction, but they also teach the discipline and critical thinking skills that every person needs. The instructors aim to prepare each and every student for the ultimate goal of attending college.

Public learning centers might be free of cost, but usually this is the only plus side to them. As a result, these places often lack the resources that students need to thrive. Classes are normally overcrowded and short on materials such as books or computers. In addition to this, parents often lack opportunities to become involved in their children’s education. In private schools this is totally different. Top-of-the -line buildings and resources are readily available. With libraries, theaters, gymnasiums, and other centers, every child has a chance to develop the life skills that are required in the real world.

Discipline is another very important aspect of private schools. In these institutions you can count on there being lots of structure and rules to teach every child respect and responsibility. In public learning centers you always hear of unruliness, trouble, disorganization, and even crime and disrespect from students. These stories make the news each day. But at the right institution, everything is properly organized, right down to the crisp uniforms worn each day.

One thing that most public institutions lack is involvement from the community. In private schools, the community is very supportive and they often have large alumni organizations that give back and offer encouragement to current students. You can’t beat having that all in one place. These centers also offer many activities for students to choose from. From sports to drama to music, no child will feel left behind when trying to follow their interests.

Every child deserves the best when it comes to education. The world is changing, and only those with the best skills will have chances in life. This is why it is important to choose the right education starting now. Preparation for college can start as early as kindergarten. Just choose the right education and success will follow.

Effects of Global Warming – Benefits and Dangers

When you hear about the effects of global warming it is important to understand that the effects we are experiencing today are moderate compared to what the future will see if we do not take preventative action. Over the next century researchers and environmental professionals are stating that the effects of global warming will continue on a constant inclined curve. Temperatures heating up a little bit each decade until the earth’s temperatures reach the sweltering levels that we experienced in history. Scientists believe that the earth’s temperatures will rise between 2-9 degrees Fahrenheit by 2050.

The Arctic and the earth’s northern latitudes will feel the most of the effects of global warming as they continue to escalate. As the Arctic packs and glaciers begin to melt from the increased temperatures the tundra and seas surrounding the areas will continue to absorb the warmth which was once reflected back into space. Climate models show that if temperatures throughout the rest of the world rise to 3 degrees Fahrenheit they will more than likely rise to at least 7 degrees Fahrenheit in the Arctic. From this the oceans throughout the world will become full with melting glaciers and ice from the Arctic likely to rise by at least 3ft.

As the temperatures continue to rise this will force the ocean to evaporate quicker and therefore more rainfall will be experienced. The problem with this effect is that the rainfall may hit areas of the world which do not need it at all causing massive floods and monsoons. Subtropical areas like India are expected to be the target of this particular effect of global warming. On the other hand it is safe to say that droughts are going to be more of a problem than flooding.

There are predictions that the future effects of global warming may have its benefits as well. In the northern part of the world such as Canada, the warmer temperatures will mean longer growing seasons and more rainfall. This of course then will put an end to any food shortage that may be occurring and provide a new sense of prosperity to countries throughout the world which have been struggling to survive.

Many of the changes and effects listed above are already taking place today on a smaller scale of course. Sea levels are rising due to thermal expansion of the ocean, in addition to melting of land ice. Amounts and patterns of precipitation are changing as well but only slightly in comparison to what has been predicted for the future. Changes in temperature and precipitation patterns increase the frequency and intensity of other extreme weather events such as floods, droughts, heat waves, and tornadoes.

Other effects of global warming include higher or lower agricultural yields, further glacial retreat, reduced summer stream flows and species extinctions. As a further effect of global warming, diseases like malaria are returning into areas where they have been extinguished earlier. This is only the beginning of the effects global warming can have on our earth. As the greenhouse gases continue to increase and enter the atmosphere these effects are only going to increase in severity making it harder and harder to maintain our quality of life.

Many people find it hard to believe that the effects of global warming can become as severe as scientists are predicting but the patterns support these theories. When you read studies comparing today’s weather to weather 20years ago there are already signs proving the effects of global warming. Pay attention to the weather today and the severe weather being reported from all over the world and you will begin to see the effects within your own life as well.

We can all do our part to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases within our atmosphere. No matter how small the act might be (saving electricity, conserving fuels, etc) every action makes a difference when we are all making these eco-smart decisions. There are no doubts that the effects of global warming are only going to persist and increase if we do not do something today. The fact is that even if greenhouse emission gases were completely eliminated today it will still take years to eliminate the threats of global warming. This is why it is so important to do what we can today!

When you hear about the effects of global warming it is important to understand that the effects we are experiencing today are moderate com...

There are a few ways to help ease the symptoms, depending on which stage of the disease you are in. If you are in the early stages of rheumatoid arthritis there is a new disease modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) which has done an excellent job in controlling symptoms. It works best in the initial stages, so if you suspect you may have rheumatoid arthritis, see your doctor as soon as possible.

There are other options if you are in later stages of rheumatoid arthritis. These are also helpful if you are still in early stages. One is to use anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen. This does a great job reducing pain and inflammation. However, these have side effects including heart problems and gastrointestinal bleeding. You can also use acetaminophen for your rheumatoid arthritis, which does not have these side effects.

When symptoms are mild, moderate exercising including stretching, weight lifting, and aerobics ease rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. Be sure to rest when your joints flare up as this would just add strain to your aching joints. Stretching is important because it increases flexibility and is easy enough to do at any age. When stretching, stop when you feel mild discomfort and hold for 10 to 30 seconds. Then repeat 3 to 5 times. Weight lifting also improves flexibility as well as strength and balance. Barbells are easy, convenient, and inexpensive. Remember to stretch before lifting any weights. Start with 3 sets of 8 to 10 repetitions. If you would like you can start with no weights at all (such as going leg lifts for rheumatoid arthritis in the knees), then add weights when you can. Lift the weights slowly and evenly to not damage the cartilage.

Some other popular forms of exercise for rheumatoid arthritis are aqua therapy and Tai Chi. Be sure to find an actual therapist as they have specific exercises they do for arthritis patients. Aerobics instructors may push to far and do further damage. Tai Chi has no long term studies proving its effectiveness, but due to testimonials from patients who have taken Tai Chi, the Arthritis Foundation began offering the class. Remember to always check with your doctor before starting an exercise program.

Some other ways to relieve rheumatoid arthritis pain are to lose weight to take additional pressure off joints, eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, using heat or ice, and possibly using devices such as a cane, brace, or splint. There are many resources for additional information on rheumatoid arthritis including websites, flyers, periodicals, books, etc. Your doctor should be able to provide you with some reference on where to look for additional help.

Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA will see the rupiah was at 10,250 at the end of next year. In comparison, the median of 23 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg predict the rupiah will be at the level of 12,200 per U.S. dollar.

Among the 10 countries of Asia, only China can beat Indonesian growth.

There are several factors that will allegedly keep the Rupiah. Thus, it spreads on the decline in consumption.

As an overall result, Adhi estimated the food and beverage industry in Jabodetabek lost the income until Rp 200 billion per day. “In the normal situation, the income in each day for this region reached USD 800 billion,” he said on Tuesday (01/21/2014).

It is not only the distribution to the consumer, food and beverage manufacturers must also bear the losses due to the distribution of raw materials from the another region which also faltered.

For example, the transportation of fresh fruit and meat from Central Java, currently takes up to four days. Though, it usually takes only a half day. “Whereas within five days, the fresh raw materials will rot in about 50 percent” he said.

It hasn’t counted yet the losses because the factory could not be operated due to workers who could not get in because of flooding, or because there is no electricity supply due to outages by PLN in some areas.

Despite the losses is in sight, according to Adhi, manufacturers of foods and beverages will not raise their selling prices. Because this problem is only temporary.

A woman that uses birth control pills and then suddenly drinks too much grapefruit juice can get pregnant because this juice makes the effects of the pills disappear.

Grapefruit juice is not indicated to drink while taking anti-depressing medication, antibiotics and medicine for cardio-vascular diseases. A person that takes anti-depressives and adds to that grapefruit in huge quantities can feel that he has all of a sudden too much or too little energy, depending on the pills taken. Combining it with antibiotic can cause stomach sickness or can extend the illness you are taking medication for because the antibiotics will diminuate their effect. Heart drugs don’t work anymore, the blood pressure stays up and the heart beat irregularly. For those that love grapefruit juice, witch is more concentrated than the fruit itself, a recommendation would be to restrain from drinking it while they are taking medication.

Doctors try to raise attention upon avoiding and combating the combination of grapefruit with medicine especially because in some diets grapefruit juice is recommended in huge quantities.

Grapefruit is benefic to organism if used properly. It belongs to that class of aliments that burn calories, because it takes more calories to digest them than they have. Eating the fruit is not a problem, nor is drinking a glass of juice once in a while. The problem appears where human reasoning disappears. Wanting to loose more weight faster, people weaken their bodies and eat only grapefruits. It is efficient for a diet, but it also loosens the imunitary system. They become more vulnerable, more tired and nervous and if taking any medications they are risking their health in this combination.

So use this aliment wisely, go ask a specialist of its precise effects in your case and don’t abuse drinking grapefruit juice. Abusing something has never brought anything good, and it won’t in this case either. If you want to go on with your diet and keep your health find an alternative solution or make sure this does not affect your organism.
